AQUARIUS, MATTIA dei GIBBONI. - Dominican theologian, born at Aquaro, near Eboli, on an uncertain date, and died in 1591 in the convent of S. Domenico in Naples. He studied in Bologna (1558), was professor at the University of Turin in 1569, at that of Naples in 1572, at that of Rome in 1575, and then once again in Naples.
Among other works, he wrote: Oratio de excellentia theologiae (Turin 1569 and Naples 1572); Adnotationes super IV libros Sententiarum Ioannis Capreoli... (Venice 1589); Controversiae inter D. Thoman et caeteros theologos... (Venice 1589); Formalitates iuxta doctrinam D. Thomae Aquinatis. (Naples 1605), published under the editorship of Fr. Alfonso de Marcho, O. P.
