ASTORRI, PIER ENRICO. — Sculptor, born in Paris on 23 July 1882, died on 30 May 1926. He studied in Piacenza and Milan. Having won the competition for the statue *Piemonte* on the Altare della Patria in 1917, he moved to Rome, where he executed the monument to Pius X in St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican (1917), based on a design by the architect Di Fausto. Among his works are monuments to the Fallen and to the victory of the First World War.
