It was replaced by the forgery « Deum time », drawn up by the keeper of the seals Pierre Flotte and circulated together with the alleged and crude reply of the king, « Sciat tua maxima fatuita in temporalibus nos alicui non subesse etc. », in order to incite the people against the Pope. The dispute concerning this bull is merely an episode in the tragic struggle between Bonifacio VIII and Filippo il Bello.
