He pursued his higher studies at the University of Cervera and earned a degree in theology at the University of Majorca (1819). He entered the Oratory of St Philip Neri at Vich, but after its suppression (1835) he took refuge in Perpignan, then in Nice, and finally in Rome. Returning to Vich in 1844, he reconstituted the Congregation of the Oratory, of which he became superior in 1854. He also founded the Institute of the Brothers of the Immaculate Conception, a college for poor students, and a hospice for sick priests.
He translated into Spanish from the Italian the *Directorio Mistico para los Confesores* by Fr Bernardino da Castelvetere (Vich 1847), and composed in Catalan and Spanish the *Mirall dorat de l'anima*, or *practical instruction for regulating one’s life so as to live holily* (n.p., n.d.).
