AURIFEX BUONFIGLI, NICOLA. – Italian Carmelite, born around 1529 in Siena, where he donned the Carmelite habit and earned a degree in theology; died in Siena in 1601. In 1565 he was appointed among the theologians of the University of Florence, of which he was dean in 1578. He subsequently held the offices of prior of the convent of Siena, regent of studies at the colleges of Paris, Padua (1575), and Venice (1580), as well as provincial of Tuscany (1581).
