BENNONE, bishop of Rimini. — Appointed in 1230. Highly esteemed by Gregory IX, he was entrusted with numerous missions and charged with settling a dispute between the archbishops of Ravenna and Faenza. He founded the leper hospital of St Lazarus near Rimini and hosted in his city St Anthony of Padua, who had come there to promote devotion to the Most Holy Sacrament. He died about 1235.
