BONAGUIDA D'AREZZO. - Decretalist of the 13th century. He taught at Arezzo around 1255. He also appears to have practised the legal profession profitably in Rome.
Not before 1263 did he compose his Summa introductoria super officio advocacionis in foro ecclesiastico (cf. A. Wunderlich, Anecdota quae ad processum civilem spectant, Gottlinga 1841, pp. 132-345). He is the author of a Gemma seu Margarita containing specific questions derived from the Decretals and relating to practice, especially in matters of judicial procedure (S. Marion, in Tractatus plurimorum doctoram, Lione 1519, pp. 31-69). A Tractatus de dispensationibus was also attributed to him (published in Tractatus universi iuris, XIV, Venezia 1584, pp. 173-75).
For chronological reasons, he would not appear to be identifiable with his namesake B., who, together with others, compiled the collection of the Decisiones antiquae of the Roman Rota, covering the years between 1372 and 1374, with additions of decisions from an earlier period.
