BUCCHI, GEREMIA. – Theologian and biblical scholar of the Conventual Minors, born in Udine in the first half of the sixteenth century, died at Ronciglione (Rome) on 14 November 1587. Master of Theology, he was regent at Siena (1565) and several times provincial of Tuscany (1573–81); envoy of Francesco I of Tuscany to Emperor Maximilian of Austria, he conducted an extensive campaign against the Lutherans in Prague.
His most notable works are: Expos. in Psalmos (Florence 1572); In Orat. Ier. proph., et in Cant. Zachariae (there 1573). He printed a new edition of the Liber Conformitetum by fra' Bartolomeo di Rimonico [v.] (died in 1401), and prepared the first edition of his De vita et laudibus B. M. Virginis, in 6 books (posthumous, Venice 1596).
