BUCCHI, GEREMIA. - Theologian and biblical scholar of the Conventual Friars Minor, b. at Udine in the first half of the sixteenth century, d. at Ronciglione (Rome) on 14 Nov. 1587. A Master of Theology, he was regent at Siena (1565) and several times provincial of Tuscany (1573-81); as envoy of Francis I of Tuscany to the Emperor Maximilian of Austria, he conducted an extensive campaign against the Lutherans in Prague.

His most notable works are: Expos. in Psalmos (Florence 1572); In Orat. Ier. proph., et in Cant. Zachariae (ibid. 1573). He printed a new ed. of the Liber Conformitatum of Friar Bartolomeo of Rimonico [v.] (d. 1401), and, of the same author, prepared the 1st ed. of the De vita et laudibus B. M. Virginis, in 6 bks. (posthumous, Venice 1596).
