CHEVRIER, ANTOINE, Venerable. — Born in Lyon on 16 April 1826, died there on 2 October 1879. A student of the Lyon seminary, he was ordained priest on 25 May 1850. As vicar in the popular parish of Saint-André, he took special care of the young, for whom in 1857 he founded the institute “La Providence du Prado” with the aim of preparing them for Holy Communion and guiding stray and disadvantaged children towards work. At Grenoble he then founded a community of sisters to serve the Prado, affiliated to the Third Order of Saint Francis, and another of priests for whom he wrote the volume: Le prêtre ou le véritable disciple de N.-S. Jésus-Christ.
The cause of beatification was introduced on 11 June 1913.
