CEPEDA, FÉLIX ALEJANDRO

CEPEDA, FÉLIX ALEJANDRO. — Born in La Serena (Chile) on 19 Nov. 1854, died in Madrid on 29 Jan. 1930. After teaching in seminaries as a priest in Santiago, in 1888 he entered the Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and was immediately sent to Segovia in Spain. In ’95 he became provincial superior of Catalonia, resigning the office in 1902 and departing for Mexico, where, as a gifted preacher and organizer, he again became provincial superior. During the World War he took refuge in the United States, opening new houses. Returning to Mexico, he was called to Madrid in 1918 and in 1920 was named consultor general of the Congregation. In 1920 he returned to America and in 1923 set out for Africa. He was a journalist and effective writer.
