DE MATTHIAS, MARIA, VENERABILE

DE MATTHIAS, MARIA, Venerable. – Religious, foundress of the Adoratrices of the Most Precious Blood, born at Vallecorsa (Frosinone) on 4 Feb. 1805, died at Rome on 20 Aug. 1866. The providential meeting with Bl. Gaspare del Bufalo determined her to give a new direction to her religious vocation, devoting herself to the spiritual formation and instruction of youth. She patiently endured misunderstandings and struggles for her institute, which she was able to see recognised by the Holy See before her death. Her beatification is imminent.
