DE BONO, Gaspar, Blessed. - Born at Valencia on 5 January 1530, died there on 14 July 1604. He received the Dominican habit in 1545. In order to help his family he was able to leave the convent.
In 1550 he enlisted in the army of Charles V and was in Italy until 1560. Wounded at Florence, he promised that, if he should return to Spain, he would enter among the Minims. Having returned to Spain, he pronounced his vows in the convent of St. Sebastian at Valencia (1665). He was ordained a priest in 1666. In 1680 he was provincial of the Minims. He was a man of a most austere life. He was beatified by Pius VI on 10 October 1786. Feast on 14 July.
