DE MONTIBUS SINA ET SION. - A work falsely attributed in some manuscripts to St. Cyprian. The work seeks to explain the apparent contrast between Ex. 2:3: "The law will come from Zion" and the legislation on Sinai.

Mount Zion is heavenly, Mount Sinai is earthly; the first represents the New Testament, the second the Old. The work is written in vulgar Latin and contains several inaccuracies (Sinai in Palestine, ch. 3). The Christological doctrine is very primitive. That the author knew the writings of St. Cyprian does not seem certain (against H. Koch, Cyprianische Untersuchungen, Bonn 1926, p. 421 ff.); an origin in the pre-Cyprianic era is not to be excluded, but its place cannot be determined. The argumentation is that of the anti-Jewish writings.
