CHRISMON. - A short treatise attributed to St. Jerome on the form and meaning of the monogram of Christ.

The text is an addition to Jerome's revision of the work of Victorinus of Pettau on Apoc. 13:18. Morin considered it a work of St. Jerome himself (v. Revue Bénédictine, 20 [1903], pp. 225-32; id., Anecdota Maredsolana, Maredsous 1903, pp. 194-98; id., Etudes, Textes, Découvertes, ibid. 1931, p. 20 ff.). See, however, the objection of G. Haussleiter in his edition: Victorini episcopi Petavionensis opera, Vienna 1916, p. 124; CSEL, XXXIX; also G. Grützmacher, Hieronymus, III, Berlin 1908, p. 238.
