REVUE BÉNÉDICTINE. - A periodical begun in 1884 by the abbot of Marcedsous (Belgium) under the almost ascetic title Messager des fidèles, with the aim of bringing the faithful closer to the Church by acquainting them more fully with its traditions, doctrines, and rites.
Gradually, without neglecting this original purpose, the periodical accentuated its character as a learned review, until in 1910, when it became a quarterly, it definitively embarked on the path of strictly scientific works, broadening and consolidating its field of study to encompass patrology, ecclesiastical history, liturgy, and historical criticism. In addition to articles, notes, and unpublished documents, as well as book reviews, each issue features two bibliographical bulletins, one on Benedictine history and the other on early Christian literature.
