DOTTI, Andrea, Blessed. - Priest, b. at Borgo Sansepolcro around 1250, d. 31 August 1315. At about the age of 28 he received the habit of the Servants of Mary from the hands of St. Philip Benizi. Ordained a priest in December 1280, he accompanied Benizi on various journeys, sharing in his apostolic labors. After the death of the saint, he withdrew to the desert of Vallucola near Borgo Sansepolcro. Having left his solitude, he resumed the apostolic ministry, preaching in various regions of Italy. He was prior at Foligno and at Florence. He founded the convents of St. Stephen in Alessandria and of St. Catherine in Asti. His cult was approved by Pius VII in 1806. His feast is celebrated on 3 September.
