DOTTI, ANDREA, blessed. — Priest, born in Borgo S. Sepolcro around 1250, died on 31 August 1315. At about 28 years of age he received the habit of the Servants of Mary from the hands of St. Filippo Benizi. Ordained a priest in December 1280, he accompanied Benizi on various journeys, sharing in his apostolic labors. After the Saint’s death, he withdrew to the hermitage of Vallucola near Borgo S. Sepolcro. Having left his solitude, he resumed his apostolic ministry, preaching in various regions of Italy. He was prior at Foligno and Florence. He founded the convents of S. Stefano in Alessandria and S. Caterina in Asti. His cult was approved by Pius VII in 1806. His feast is celebrated on 3 September.
