DOTTI, Andrea, Blessed. — Priest, b. at Borgo San Sepolcro around 1250, d. 31 Aug. 1315. At about 28 years of age, he received the habit of the Servites from the hands of St. Philip Benizi. Ordained priest in December 1280, he accompanied Benizi on various journeys, sharing in his apostolic labors. After the death of the Saint, he withdrew to the desert of Vallucola near Borgo San Sepolcro. Leaving solitude behind, he resumed his apostolic ministry by preaching in various regions of Italy. He served as prior in Foligno and Florence. He founded the convents of St. Stephen in Alessandria and of St. Catherine in Asti. His cult was approved by Pius VII in 1806. The feast is celebrated on 3 September.
