Ducci, Zaccaria

DUCCI, ZACCARIA. - Born at Salutio di Castelfocognano (Arezzo) on 16 February 1861, died on 3 August 1944 at Fiesole. Having entered the Franciscan Order in 1879, in 1886 he set out as a missionary to Bolivia, where he remained until 1895, when he returned to Italy and published the Diario of the visitation of all the Bolivian missions, in which he took part as secretary of the commissary general. From 1900 to 1915 he returned to the missions in Argentina (at Corrientes and in the Gran Chaco), adding to his apostolic zeal the study of the environment, especially of the Toba tribe and their language.
