ZACCARIA DUCCI. — Born at Salutio di Castelfo-cognano (Arezzo) on 16 Feb. 1861, died on 3 Aug. 1944 at Fiesole. He entered the Franciscan Order in 1879 and in 1886 set out as a missionary to Bolivia, where he remained until 1895. On his return to Italy he published the Diary of a visit to all the Bolivian missions, in which he had served as secretary to the general commissioner. From 1900 to 1915 he returned to the missions in Argentina (at Corrientes and in the Gran Chaco), combining apostolic zeal with the study of the environment, especially among the Toba tribe and their language.
