ELIEL (Hebr. 'Elī'el “my God is 'El”). — Nine Israelites of this name appear in the Bible.
1. One of the chiefs of the tribe of Manasseh (I Par. 5:24). 2. A Levite of the lineage of Cazh, ancestor of Samuel (I Par. 6:19, Vulg. 34 = Eliab, ibid., V. 12, Vulg. 27 = Eliu, I Sum. 1:1).
3–4. Two from the tribe of Benjamin (I Par. 8:20, 22). 5–6. Two warriors from the time of David (I Par. 11:46, 47).
7. A chief of the tribe of Gad, who joined David while he was being pursued by Saul (I Par. 12:11).
8. A Levite from the time of Ezechia, among those appointed over the tithes and sacred gifts (II Par. 31:13).
9. A Levite, head of a family of Hebron, who took part in transporting the Ark (I Par. 15:9, 11).
