ELIEL (Heb. 'Elī'el "My God Is 'El"). - Nine Israelites of this name appear in the Bible.

1. One of the chiefs of the tribe of Manasseh (I Chron. 5:24). 2. A Levite of the stock of Kohath, ancestor of Samuel (I Chron. 6:19, Vulg. 34 = Eliab, ibid., v. 12, Vulg. 27 = Eliu, I Sam. 1:1).

3-4. Two of the tribe of Benjamin (I Chron. 8:20, 22). 5-6. Two warriors of the time of David (I Chron. 11:46, 47).

7. A chief of the tribe of Gad, who joined David when he was persecuted by Saul (I Chron. 12:11).

8. A Levite of the time of Hezekiah, among those set over the tithes and the sacred gifts (II Chron. 31:13).

9. A Levite, head of the family of Hebron, who took part in the carrying of the Ark (I Chron. 15:9, 11).
