FURCHERI, Damiano, Blessed. - Dominican preacher, also called Damiano da Finale, b. at Perri di Finale Ligure (Savona) at the beginning of the 15th century, d. at Reggio Emilia in 1484. After becoming acquainted with the Dominicans at Finale, he received the habit in the convent of St. Dominic in Genoa. He was a religious of great virtue, learning and charity. He traveled, preaching, through a large part of northern Italy.

He left several writings: sermons on the liturgical year, pious meditations, etc. From his tomb in Reggio Emilia he made his power with God known through various miracles. On 4 Aug. 1848 Pius IX confirmed his cult. Feast on 26 Oct.
