GRUBER, HERMANN JOSEPH. - Jesuit, publicist, b. at Kufstein (Tyrol) on 5 Feb. 1851, d. at Valkenburg (Holland) on 18 May 1930. After seven years (1881-87) devoted to pastoral care among Germans at Arlon and Berne, he dedicated himself exclusively to his mission as a writer, studying in particular the philosophical currents of his time and the baleful influence of Freemasonry.

through India, Persia, and Asia Minor reached Rome on 20 Feb. 1664.
Having abandoned the new plan to reach China via Russia, he instead adopted another route, heading for Asia Minor; but falling ill at Constantinople, he retraced his steps. Later he is found as military chaplain to the imperial troops in Transylvania, and it is known that he died at Sárospatak.
