LIBORIO, saint. — Little is known of his life. He succeeded, apparently, Pavazio in the bishopric of Le Mans, which he governed for 49 years. He laboured greatly for the good of the diocese, promoting the construction of no fewer than 17 churches and increasing the number of the clergy. He died on 9 June 397, attended by s. Martino di Tours, who also arranged his burial in the church of the Apostles Pietro e Paolo, where his two immediate predecessors had likewise found their resting-place. His tomb became a destination for pilgrimages, and miracles were also performed there. In 836 the body was transferred to Paderborn. In the Martirologio romano he is commemorated on 23 July.
