NARCISSO and FELICE, saints, martyrs. - They are commemorated in the Roman Martyrology on 18 March. N. was bishop of Cologne, F. a deacon; they are said to have perished at Gerona in Spain during the persecution of Diocletian.
This information is drawn from the legendary Conversio s. Afrae (BHL, 108). According to this work, N. and F., after converting the prostitute Afra at Cologne, went to Gerona, where they were martyred. In the Hieronymian Martyrology F. alone is commemorated, on 1 Aug., whereas there is no mention of N. The Passio of F. relates that he was African, a native of Scilli; during the persecution of Diocletian he went to Spain, and at Gerona he was ar-
rested; brought before the tribunal of the judge Daciano, after various tortures he was killed. Prudenzio and St Gregory of Tours speak of him and of his basilica.
