NARCISSUS AND FELIX, Saints, Martyrs. - They are commemorated in the Roman Martyrology on 18 March. N. was bishop of Cologne, F. a deacon; they are said to have perished at Gerona in Spain, during the persecution of Diocletian.

These notices are drawn from the legendary Conversio s. Afrae (BHL, 108). According to this writing, N. and F., after converting the courtesan Afra at Cologne, went to Gerona, where they were martyred. In the Martyrologium Hieronymianum F. is commemorated alone, on 1 August, while there is no notice of N. The Passio of F. relates that he was an African, a native of Scilli; during the persecution of Diocletian he went to Spain, and at Gerona he was arrested; brought before the tribunal of the judge Dacian, after various torments he was killed. Prudentius and St. Gregory of Tours speak of him and of his basilica.
