PACIFICO da SAN SEVERINO, saint. - Born at S. Severino (Marche) on 1 March 1653, of the Divini family; died there, in the convent of the Madonna delle Grazie, on 24 September 1721.
PACIFICO DA S. SEVERINO - PACIFISMO
After a childhood spent amid the hardships of poverty and the strict discipline of a maternal uncle, who took him in after the death of his parents, at the age of 17 he became a Franciscan in the convent of Forano. On 4 June 1671 he was ordained priest; initially assigned to the teaching of philosophy, he subsequently devoted himself to the apostolate. But, afflicted from as early as 1688 by serious infirmities, he spent the rest of his life in heroic resignation and harsh mortifications, at times intensified by the incomprehension of his brethren, being endowed with the gifts of prophecy and miracles. Numerous miracles having occurred after his death, in 1786 he was beatified by Pius VI, and on 26 May 1839 Gregory XVI canonized him. Feast: 24 Sept.
