PASCASINO, bishop of LILIBEO. — He was already bishop in 440, when he was taken prisoner by the Vandals, who had landed in Sicily; during his captivity he was subjected to ill-treatment, as he himself later wrote to Pope Leone Magno.
The latter sent him as his legate and presiding officer to the Council of Chalcedon (451), where P. fulfilled his mandate with expertise and tact, concluding Eutyches (v.) and Dioscorus, bishop of Alexandria (v.). Pope Leone Magno praises in his letters his unshaken faith and his extensive and reliable learning, and turned to him concerning liturgical questions. Died after 453.
