PISTOCCHI, MARIO. — Canonist, born at Meldola (Forlì) on 16 September 1874, died at Forlì on 10 December 1943.
Ordained a priest in 1897, he obtained a degree in utroque iure from the Apollinare in Rome in 1913. An apostolic protonotary, vicar general, and provost of Forlì Cathedral, he carried out intense pastoral and preaching activity. He wrote various booklets on asceticism and piety and contributed numerous notes and commentaries to the journal Perfice munus from 1926 to 1943. His most important writings are the following: De Synodo diocesana, Turin 1922; The Penal Canons of the Ecclesiastical Code, ibid. 1925; De re beneficiari, ibid. 1928; The Code of the Laity, Milan 1930; De bonis Ecclesiae temporalibus, Turin 1932; De suspensione ex informata conscientia, ibid. n.d.; Commentary on Parts I and II of Book V of the CIC, published in installments in Il Monitore Ecclesiastico from 1933 to 1939.
