PROSDOCIMO, Saint. - According to what is commonly related of him, he would have been a disciple of St. Peter and sent by him to Padua as its first bishop; he would then have evangelized Este, Altino, Vicenza, Treviso, Feltre, Asolo, and then also Oderzo, Concordia and Belluno; he would have baptized the martyr St. Justina, near whom he would then have been buried.

The legend that narrates all this, full of anachronisms and inconsistencies, is not earlier than the 11th-12th centuries. The Saint is mentioned for the first time in the year 860 apropos of a church in the Veronese territory without the title of bishop.
