QUARTO (Quartus, Κουβέτος). – A Christian who, in Rom. 16:23, sends greetings from Corinth to the community of Rome.
His name and his relationship with this community suggest that he was a native of Rome, or at least a Latin. Ordinal adjectives were often used by the Romans as personal names; hence it is not entirely unfounded to suppose that Q. was the brother of Terzo, mentioned in Rom. 16:22 as Paul’s amanuensis. He is commemorated in the Roman Martyrology on 3 November.
