SAN PIETRO DI MUENSTER – Nullius abbey and city in the province of Saskatchewan, Canadà.
The monastery of the Benedictines (American-Cassinese Congregation) was founded in 1892 at Wataug, Illinois (United States), under the name of Cluny, and was subsequently transferred to Canadà in 1903, under the name of S. P. The abbey was erected in 1911 and raised to a nullius abbey by dismemberment from S. Alberto on 6 May 1921, for Catholics of German origin.
The abbey now has one abbot, 34 religious priests, 13 churches with a resident priest, 19 chapels, 1 college, 2 hospitals, and 11,500 Catholics. The clergy is composed exclusively of Benedictines. There are also two women’s congregations: Ursulines of Germany and Sisters of S. Elisabetta.
