**SCHOLLINER**, Hermann. - Benedictine theologian, b. at Frisinga on 15 Jan. 1722, d. at Welchenberg on 16 July 1795. A monk at Oberaltaich (1738), he studied at Erfurt and Salzburg; he became director of Benedictine studies in Bavaria (1752), then professor of dogmatics at Salzburg (1759); after 1766 he retired to his abbey.
He was called to direct the *Monumenta Boica* (1768), and after a brief tenure as parish priest at Bogenberg, became prior (1772). Upon the suppression of the Jesuits, he was appointed professor of dogmatics at Ingolstadt (1773), where

he reformed theological study. He became rector of the university (1776), then provost of Welchenberg, a dependency of Oberaltaich (1780–84). Among his works are to be noted: *De Magistratuum ecclesiasticorum origine et creatione* (Salzburg 1751–52); *De disciplina arcanii antiquitate* (Tegernsee 1755); *Ecclesiae orientalis et occidentalis concordia in transubstantiatione* (Regensburg 1756); *Historia theologiae christianae primi saeculi* (Salzburg 1761).
