SIMON, THE LORD'S BROTHER. — One of the four listed by the Nazarenes (along with James, Joseph [Iosè] and Jude) as “brothers of Jesus” (v.) in Mt. 13:55 and Mk. 6:3, in the Semitic sense of “cousins.”

Many SIMONE (v.) the Cananaean, also called the Zealot, brother of Jude (v.) Thaddeus; and further, also with Simeon, brother and successor of James, bishop of Jerusalem, who is probably to be identified with the apostle James the Less (v.).
