STUDIA CATHOLICA. - The most widely circulated theological review among Dutch Catholics.
It is the continuation of the Katholiek (v.), but it is not the official organ of the Catholic University of Nijmega, although it has close relations with II. Besides the professors of that University, professors from seminaries of the secular and regular clergy and laymen contribute to the editorial staff. In addition to leading articles and “miscellanies,” a characteristic feature of the review is its “chronicles” of Dutch matters: philosophy, science, phenomenology, insofar as they concern religion, and also moral theology and exegesis, canon law, ascetical theology, Church history, and Protestant theology. These chronicles are the most accurate and complete accounts of theological work in Holland and are unsurpassed by any review, even Protestant ones. S. C. is an example of the difficult solution to the problem of reconciling fidelity to perennial philosophy and theology (while admitting the whole variety of Catholic schools) with discussion of contemporary matters. Besides articles in Dutch, it publishes others in French, English, and German. It is published by the firm Dekker e van de Vegt (Nijmega and Utrecht).
