STUDIA CATHOLICA. - The most widely circulated theological journal of Dutch Catholics.

It is the continuation of Katholiek (v.), but it is not the official organ of the Catholic University of Nijmegen, although it has close ties with it. In addition to the professors of that university, professors from seminaries of the secular and regular clergy and laymen collaborate on the editorial board. Besides the leading articles and the "miscellanies," a characteristic feature of the journal are the "chronicles" of Dutch affairs: of philosophy, science, phenomenology, insofar as they concern religion, and furthermore of moral theology and exegesis, canon law, ascetical theology, Church history, Protestant theology. These chronicles are the most accurate and the most complete on theological work in the Netherlands and yield to no other journal, not even a Protestant one. S. C. is an example of the difficult solution to the problem of combining fidelity to perennial philosophy and theology (admitting the whole variety of Catholic schools) with the discussion of current affairs. Besides articles in Dutch, it publishes others in French, English, and German. It is published by the House of Dekker and van de Vegt (Nijmegen and Utrecht).
