TAIGI, ANNA MARIA, blessed. - Born in Siena on 29 May 1769, died in Rome on 9 June 1837.
Having moved to Rome with her family in 1774, she endured a hard life of labor to support them; in 1789 she married a Chigi household servant, to whom she bore seven children; in 1790 she enrolled in the Third Order of the Trinitarians. She proved to be the most accomplished model of wife and mother, brightening all with her smile and bearing every burden upon her own shoulders.

She led a life of austere penance for the conversion of sinners and the needs of the Church, adding to this a heroic tolerance of physical and moral sufferings, insults, misunderstandings, and even spiritual aridity and darkness. She was favored with supernatural gifts; for 47 years she saw, as if in a sun mysteriously suspended above her head, events both distant and near, past and future, the state of souls, and above all the continual iniquities committed against God; this intensified her spirit of love and reparation. She was consulted by many great figures of the Church and the world. Her incorrupt body was transferred in 1855 to S. Maria della Pace and in 1865 to the basilica of S. Crisogono, served by the Trinitarians. Beatified on 30 May 1920. Feast day on 9 June.
