Thomas of Palmerstown (Palmeranus or Palmerstonus, Thomas of Hibernia or Hibernicus)

TOMMASO di PALMERSTOWN (Palmeranus o Palmerstonus, Th. de Hibernia o Hibernicus). - Theologian, erroneously considered a Dominican or Franciscan, who obtained his baccalaureate at the Sorbonne, of which he was a fellow until 1330. He died before 1338, leaving his books and manuscripts to that University.

His works were very widespread. Dating from 1316 is Religio munda (or Tractatus de tribus punctis christianae religionis, or Expositio articulorum fidei christianae), Lübeck 1496, a sort of theological summa in three parts: articles of the faith, precepts of the Decalogue, 7 capital sins, followed by an appendix on the power of the keys and censures. Posthumous is the Manipulus florum, sentences of 36 Greek and Latin Fathers on problems of theology and philosophy, arranged in alphabetical order; there are many manuscripts of it, 13 editions and many versions; Silvio Insulano reworked it under the title: Polyanthea novissima, Vienna 1758; G. T. Ghilardi O. P. edited its latest edition (Mondovì 1858); Flores biblorum, posthumous, on the common places of the Old and New Testament, in alphabetical order, Paris 1556, 1662, Lyon 1678-79. Remaining in manuscript are: De tribus sessibus Scripturae, De tribus hierarchis tam angelicis quam ecclesiasticis.
