VITTORIA, Saint, Martyr. — She is commemorated in the Hieronymian Martyrology on 19 December; in the Roman Martyrology, however, according to the indication of the Passio, on the 23rd of the same month.
Her sepulchre was located near Trebula Mutuesca (now Monteleone Sabino), about 65 km from Rome on the Via Salaria. She was greatly venerated in antiquity and the Middle Ages, as attested by many churches dedicated to her and topographical references (I. Schuster, *Le ss. Anatolia e V.* in *Boll. diocesano di Sabina*, 1917, pp. 163 ff.). Her image is found in the museum of S. Apollinare Nuovo in Ravenna alongside that of Anatolia, with whom she is commemorated in the Hieronymian Martyrology on 10 July. Around 934, her body was transferred to the monastery of Monte Matenano near Fermo. The Passio, probably written in the 5th–6th century and already known to Aldhelm (MGH, *Auct. Antiquiss.*, XV, pp. 248 ff., 308 ff., 449–51), is rather legendary and modeled on similar ones.
