WEINMANN, KARL. – Priest and musicologist, born at Vohenstrauss (Upper Palatinate) on 22 Dec. 1873, died at Pielenhofen (Bavaria) on 26 Sept. 1929.
In 1909 he was appointed director of the Bishop’s Library at Regensburg, and the following year was entrusted with the direction of the School of Sacred Music in the same city and with the editorship of the periodical of the same title; sixteen years later he likewise took charge of the Cäcilienverein’s organ and subsequently of the Kirchenjahrbuch. Works: Hymnarium Parisiense, Regensburg 1909; Geschichte der Kirchenmusik, 1910, Italian trans. 1910; Das Konzil von Trient und die Kirchenmusik, 1919; Zur Geschichte des Missa Papae Marcelli, in Peters-Jahrbuch, Leipzig 1916. He was especially responsible for the Pustet editions of: Römisches Gradualbuch (1904 and 1928); Graduale (1910); Kyriale (1911); Totenoffizium (1912; 2nd ed. 1928); Graduale Parvum (1913); Römisches Vesperbuch mit Psalmenbuch (1915); Karwochenbuch (1924); Feier der heiligen Karwoche (1925); Sonntagsvesper und Komplet (2nd ed. 1928).
