WEISS, Albert Maria. - Dominican apologist, b. 22 Apr. 1844 at Indersdorf (Bavaria), d. 15 Aug. 1925 at Fribourg in Switzerland.
Ordained priest in 1867, he taught at Freising, where he prepared the 2nd edition of Herder’s *Kirchenlexikon*. A Dominican from 19 July 1876 in Graz, during his stays in various European cities he formed relationships that he used in defending Catholic doctrine as an author, teacher, advisor to private individuals, authorities, and movements (e.g., the Christian Social Movement and the Union de Fribourg).
With keen theological insight, he examined the problems of the contemporary spirit in the light of the Fathers, scholastics, and saints, refuting liberalism in both its religious and social aspects.
