ALLORI, CRISTOFORO (CRISTOFANO). - Painter, son of Alessandro, born in Florence on 17 Oct. 1577, died there in 1621. He was a pupil of his father, from whom he inherited the nickname Bronzino, then he followed Cigoli and Bolognese eclecticism. His Judith, now in the Pitti Gallery, remained very famous. Among his other works preserved in the same collection we may mention: St. John in the Desert; St. Francis; the Hospitality of St. Julian; the Adoration of the Magi; the Seated Magdalene and the Reclining Magdalene (after Correggio). Also notable are the Madonna in Glory with Saints in the cathedral of Pisa; the Apparition of the Virgin to St. Dominic in S. Domenico at Pistoia.
