ARAGONA, GIOVANNI d’. — Cardinal, born in Naples around 1460, died in Rome on 17 October 1485. Son of Ferdinando, king of Naples, he became abbot of Cava and Montecassino in 1471 and was subsequently appointed apostolic protonotary. In 1477, he obtained the archbishopric of Taranto and exactly one month later was created by Sisto IV cardinal of the title of S. Adriano, later changed to that of S. Sabina.
He was sent twice, as legate, to Mattia Corvino, king of Hungary, and was subsequently appointed archbishop of Strigonia.
