BARABINO, CARLO. - Architect, b. in Genoa on 11 February 1768, d. there on 3 September 1835. In Rome he received from Barbieri the academic and eclectic education typical of his time. Having returned to his native city, he worked intensively after 1818, the year in which he was elected architect of the Municipality.
He built the facade of S. Siro in a classicism more sixteenth-century than Napoleonic, the Imperial-Lercari altar in the Cathedral, in which he adopts a Baroque motif, the oratory of Nostra Signora del Rosario with a circular plan, and the completion of the facade of the church of the Annunziata, carried out after his death, which, on account of the academic coldness of the pronaos, too discordant with the Baroque whole, aroused harsh criticism.
