CALI, Diocese of. — In the Republic of Colombia, in the Valle del Cauca department, a suffragan of Popayán.
Erected by Pius X on 7 June 1910, it has a territorial extent of 19,789 sq. km. and a population of 713,100, of whom 698,966 are Catholic, with 152 churches, 30 parishes served by 78 diocesan priests and 100 regulars (Augustinians, Franciscans, Jesuits, Lazarists, Redemptorists, Salesians and Marist Brothers). These figures are according to the 1948 data. Among the religious monuments worthy of note are the churches of St Peter and St Francis, together with the magnificent adjoining convent.
