Cocquelines, Charles

COCQUELINES, CHARLES. - Tireless editor of the Roman Bullarium, who lived in the 18th century and died in 1758.

In 1739 in Rome he began the publication of a Bullarum, privilegiorum ac diplomatum Romanorum pontificum amplissima collectio, cui accessere pontificum omnium vitae, notae et indices opportuni (10 vols. in folio) with many additions compared with the earlier collection of Cherubini and others. Following this collection he published the Bullarium Romanum, seu novissima et accuratissima bibliotheca apostolicarum constitutionum ex autographis quae in secretori Vaticano aliisque Sedis Apostolicae scrimis asservantur. The last volume of this second collection came out in 1762: 28 vols. in folio in all, which go up to the end of the pontificate of Benedict XIV (1758); they were completed by another hand (Rome 1739-62).
