EUZOIO, bishop of ANTIOCHIA, formerly deacon of ALESSANDRIA. - He was one of the first followers of Arius, together with whom he was excommunicated and deposed in 320 by Alessandro, bishop of Alessandria (Socrate, Hist. Eccl., I, 6), and subsequently by the Council of Nicaea (325). In 332 he was summoned to Nicomedia together with Arius and presented to Costantino an equivocal formula, which gained him imperial pardon.
In 333 he was received into the communion of the Church of Jerusalem, and in 361 the strict Arians elected him bishop of Antiochia in opposition to the semi-Arian Melezio. In November 361 he baptized the dying Costanzo II at Mopsucrene in Cilicia. In 372 the Arian Valente handed over to him the churches of Antiochia, wrested from the followers of Melezio, and in 373 he appeared in Alessandria to install the Arian Lucio in the see of Atanasio. A meagre revenge for the expulsion of 53 years earlier. He died about 376.
