FOGARINI, FRANCESCO ANTONIO da BRESCIA. – A Scotist philosopher and theologian of the Conventual Franciscans, he studied at the Collegio di S. Bonaventura in Rome from 1644, and subsequently became regent of studies in Brescia, Florence, and Vienna.
Returning to his homeland, he held a chair at the Studio di Brescia and was appointed perpetual definitor of his Lombard province, of which he was provincial minister in 1667–70. Resuming his teaching, through his profound learning and agreeable method he attracted the youth of Brescia to his school in large numbers. He produced many works, published or in manuscript; notable among them are the Geminum centiloquium, theologicum unum, philosophicum alterum (Brescia 1675) and the Asteria Methaphysica cum Physico centiloquio (there, 1685).
