FOGARINI, FRANCESCO ANTONIO da BRESCIA. - A Scotist philosopher and theologian of the Conventual Franciscans, he studied at the College of St. Bonaventure in Rome from 1644, and later became regent of studies at Brescia, Florence and Vienna.

Having returned to his homeland, he held a chair in the Studium of Brescia and was appointed perpetual definitor of his Lombard province, of which he was provincial minister in 1667-70. Having resumed teaching, with his profound learning and pleasant method he drew the youth of Brescia in large numbers to his school. His works, whether published or in manuscript, are many; worthy of note are the Geminum centiloquium, theologicum unum, philosophicum alterum (Brescia 1675) and the Asteria Methaphysica cum Physico centiloquio (ibid. 1685).
