JEHIEL (Hebrew Jēhī'ēl or Jē'ī'ēl). - A fairly frequent biblical name, borne by Levites of whom nothing else is known (1 Chron. 5:7; 9:35; 15:18, 21; 16:5; 2 Chron. 35:9; Ezra 8:13; 10:21, 26); v. IAHIEL.

Corresponding to the form Jē'ī'ēl (qere), it is the name of one of the "mighty men" in David's army (1 Chron. 11:44), and of a scribe and muster-officer of the army in the time of King Uzziah (2 Chron. 26:11).
