Jalabert, Louis — Azione Romana

JALABERT, LOUIS. - Epigrapher, b. in Lyon on 30 March 1877, d. in Nice on 12 Aug. 1943. Having entered the novitiate of the Society of Jesus in 1895, he was then sent to the College of St. Joseph in Beyrouth (Syria), where he taught from 1901 to 1907, afterwards moving to the Oriental Faculty of Beyrouth from 1911 to 1914.

He was ordained a priest in August 1910. Having returned to France, he was administrator of the journal « Etudes ». Among his epigraphic publications the following are remembered: the valuable article Epigraphie, in DFC, I, coll. 1404-1457; Inscriptions grecques chrétiennes (together with Fr.
