MAGISTRETTI, MARCO. — Liturgist and historian, born in Milan on 19 July 1862. Ordained priest in 1884, he served as prefect and master of the Sacred Ceremonies in 1890; in 1896 he became a member of the Lombard Historical Society; in 1901 corresponding member of the Royal Deputazione di storia patria; in 1905 ordinary canon of the Major Chapter; in 1916 advisor to the Lombard Historical Society; in 1919 director of the Capitular Library; in 1921 president of the administrative council of the Ambrosian Library. He died at S. Giovanni alla Castagna (Lecco) on 20 November 1921.

He began critical studies on Ambrosian liturgy with Monsignors A. Ratti (Pius XI) and A. M. Ceriani.

XII* (Milan 1894); *Cenni storici sul rito ambrosiano* (ibid. 1895); *Pontificale in usum Eccl. Mediol. ex codicibus saec. IX-XV* (ibid. 1897); *La liturgia della Chiesa milanese nel sec. IV* (Vol. I, 1899; part of Vol. II, concerning the liturgical year, in *Ambrosius*, 1937 and 1938; the work is in part controversial); *Notitia cleri Mediolanensis de anno 1398 ca. ipsius immunitatem* (Milan 1900); *Delle vesti ecclesiastiche in Milano* (ibid. 1905); *Manuale Ambrosianum ex codice saec. XI olim canonicae Vallis Travaliae* (2 vols., ibid. 1905; text, introductions, notes); *Missale Ambrosianum duplex* (ibid. 1913, in collaboration with Monsignor Achille Ratti); *Liber Notitiae sanctorum Mediolani ex ms. saec.
