MARGARET OF CITTÀ DI CASTELLO, Blessed. - Dominican tertiary, called the blind woman of Metola after the village where she was born in 1287. To implore the grace of sight, her parents took her to the nearby Città di Castello, to the tomb of a Franciscan (perhaps the blessed Giacomo), who had died in 1306 in the odor of sanctity, and they abandoned her there. Taken in and fed in turn by poor women of the place, she lived devoted to penance and meditation, working various miracles that were repeated numerous times after her death (13 April 1320).

By the will of the people she received an honored burial in the church of St. Dominic. In her heart were found three pearls that seemed carved with the images of the Holy Family (plastic stigmatization). Her cult was permitted by Paul III on 28 October 1609. In her prayer she anticipated the cult of St. Joseph.
