MOHOLI. - 1. Firstborn of Merari (v.) and grandson of Levi (Ex. 6:19; Num. 3:20; 1 Chron. 6:4, 14 [Vulg. 19, 29]; 23:21; 24:26, 28); he was the ancestor of the great Levitical family of the Moholites (Num. 3:33 ff.; 26:58; 1 Chron. 24:26, 28, 31; Ezra 8:18). The name is often used as a patronymic (Heb. Mahl, ham-Mahl; Septuagint: Μολί, δῆμος ὁ Μολί; Vulgate: M., familia M., and Num. 3:33 Moholitae).

2. Son of Mushi and grandson of the preceding (1 Chron. 6:31 ff. [Vulg. 46 ff.]; 23:23; 24:30).
