MOHOLI

MOHOLI. — 1. Merari (v.) and grandson of Levi (Ex. 6:19; Num. 3:20; 1 Chron. 6:4,14 [Vulg. 19,29]; 23:21; 24:26,28); he was the eponymous ancestor of the large Levitical family of the Moholites (Num. 3:33 ff.; 26:58; 1 Chron. 24:26,28,31; Ezra 8:18). The name is often used as a patronymic (Heb. Mahl, ham-Mahl; LXX: Moal, γένος τοῦ Moal; Vulgate: M., familia M. and in Num. 3:33 Moolitae).

2. Son of Musi and grandson of the preceding (1 Chron. 6:31 ff. [Vulg. 46 ff.]; 23:23; 24:30).
