CARLO GIUSEPPE MOROZZO. — Bishop of Saluzzo, born in Mondovì in 1645, died in Saluzzo on 14 March 1729.
Having entered the Cistercian Reform (Feuillants), he was prior of the monastery of Asti, then abbot of that of the Consolata in Turin, provincial of Piedmont and Savoy, and finally procurator general. Elected Bishop of Bobbio on 22 December 1693, he was unable, owing to the troubled times, to take possession of the see; and on 27 January 1698 he was transferred to Saluzzo. There he founded the seminary and embellished the cathedral artistically. Besides being an effective preacher, he was also a writer on ascetical and historical subjects, with works such as: *Cursus vitae spiritualis* (Rome 1674; reprinted in Italian as *Corso della vita spirituale*, Turin 1683); *Theatrum chronologicum Cartusianensis Ordinis* (ibid. 1681); *Vita e virtù del b. Amedeo III di Savoia* (ibid. 1686); *Cistercini reflorescenti seu Congregationis Cisterciomovasticarum B. M. Fulienis in Gallia et Reformatorum in Italia chronologica historia* (ibid. 1690).
