MOROZZO, CARLO GIUSEPPE. - Bishop of Saluzzo, b. at Mondovì in 1645, d. at Saluzzo on 14 March 1729.
Having entered the Reformed Cistercians (Feuillants), he was prior of the monastery of Asti, then abbot of that of the Consolata in Torino, provincial of Piedmont and Savoy, and finally procurator general. Appointed bishop of Bobbio on 22 Dec. 1693, he was unable, owing to the troubled times, to take possession of the see; and on 27 Jan. 1698 he was transferred to Saluzzo. There he founded the Seminary and artistically embellished the Cathedral. Besides being an effective preacher, he was also a writer on asceticism and history, with: Cursus vitae spiritualis (Rome 1674; republished in Italian: Corso della vita spirituale, Torino 1683); Theatrum chronologicum Cartusianensis Ordinis (ibid. 1681); Vita e virtù del b. Amedeo III di Savoia (ibid. 1686); Cistercii reflorescens seu Congregationis Cisterciomovasticarum B. M. Fuliensis in Gallia et Reformatorum in Italia chronologica historia (ibid. 1690).
