PIETRO (ALMADURA) da BERGAMO. - Dominican theologian and writer, born at Bergamo at the beginning of the fifteenth century, died at Piacenza on 15 October 1482. A religious at Bergamo, he taught theology at Bologna, where he was master of the students (1461), lecturer on the Sentences (1466-67), and regent of studies (1471-76). He died reputedly in sanctity.
An ardent student of s. Tommaso, he compiled an accurate index of all the works of the Aquinate, known under the name Tabula aurea (Bologna 1473, Basel 1478); he also wrote: Etimologiae idest Concordantiae conclusionum (Venice 1476, Cologne 1480), in which he demonstrates the genuine concordance of apparently discordant propositions of the Aquinate; Tabula auctoritatum veteris ac novi Testamentii (Cologne 1473): this is an index of the passages of Sacred Scripture cited by s. Tommaso. The three works were republished together under the title: Tabula in libros, opuscula et commentario D. Thomae de Aquino (Venice 1497, Rome 1579; under the definitive title Tabula aurea, Venice 1593, Antwerp 1612, etc.). He also edited an edition of s. Tommaso’s Commentary on the Letters of s. Paolo (Bologna 1481, Basel 1495).
