PIETRO (ALMADURA) of BERGAMO. — Dominican theologian and writer, born in Bergamo at the beginning of the 15th century, died in Piacenza on 15 October 1482. A religious in Bergamo, he taught theology in Bologna, where he was master of students (1461), sententiary (1466–67), and regent of studies (1471–76). He died held in the reputation of holiness.
A devoted student of St. Thomas Aquinas, he compiled a careful index of all the works of the Angelic Doctor, known by the name *Tabula aurea* (Bologna 1473, Basel 1478); he also wrote: *Etimologiae idest Concordantiae conclusionum* (Venice 1476, Cologne 1480), in which he demonstrates the real concordance of propositions of the Aquinate that appear discordant; *Tabula auctoritatum veteris ac novi Testamenti* (Cologne 1473); this is an index of the passages of Holy Scripture cited by St. Thomas. The three works were reprinted together under the title: *Tabula in libros, opuscula et commentaria D. Thomae de Aquino* (Venice 1497, Rome 1570; with the definitive title *Tabula aurea*, Venice 1593, Antwerp 1612, etc.). He also prepared an edition of the Commentary of St. Thomas on the Letters of St. Paul (Bologna 1481, Basel 1495).
